Anirudh Yadav UPSC 8th Ranker - (AIR 8)

Anirudh Yadav, who achieved the 8th all-India rank in the UPSC exam, views qualifying for the civil services as an opportunity to uphold his family's esteemed legacy.

Anirudh brother serving as an IAS officer and his father having retired as an IPS officer, joining the civil services holds a special significance for Yadav, allowing him to continue the tradition of public service within his family.

Yadav expressed gratitude for his family's profound impact on his journey. His brother's guidance, his father's prestigious position as Director General of Police in Haryana,.

Anirudh's mother's contributions to the Quality Council of India have all played crucial roles. Additionally, Yadav's grandfather's dedicated career in the police force has influenced his aspirations and unwavering dedication to his chosen path.

After successfully completing his Biotech Engineering degree from IIT, Delhi, the 27-year-old embarked on his Civil Services preparation journey. He credited the conducive environment at IIT-Delhi for honing his ability “to learn how to learn”  and instilling discipline and consistency in his approach.

Yadav, who had previously appeared for the examination three times and qualified twice, had been diligently training for the Indian Information Services since December 2022. Devoting four to five hours daily, he prepared for his fourth UPSC attempt, ultimately achieving a remarkable feat by securing a position among the top rank-holders.

Yadav’s first preference is the Haryana cadre – a state where his father worked as a DGP. "I wanted to give back to the government. I lived in a government house and went to a government school and university" - Said Yadav
