AIISH 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor of Education – Special Education (Hearing Impairment) – B.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI)
- Admission to B.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI) is open to candidates who have passed any degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore.
- Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ ST) in the qualifying examination.
- Only those candidates who have not completed 30 years of age on the 1st of July of the academic year in which admission is sought are eligible for admission. Relaxation of age (up to 10 years) shall be considered for candidates on deputation/ in-service.
P.G. Diploma in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (PGDAAC)
- Admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Augmentative and Alternative Communication is open to the candidates who have passed in any of the below-mentioned examinations of the University of Mysore or any other recognized University or Institute with a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination.
- B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing)/ B.ASLP or equivalent from any other recognized University.
- Bachelor in Special Education (in Hearing Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disability, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple disabilities) or equivalent from any other recognized University.
- The proportion of candidates to be admitted with the qualifying examination of a B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing)/ B.ASLP and B.S.Ed. streams will be decided by the institution where the program is initiated.
- Those with the above qualification, who are sponsored/ deputed from any recognized institution, the organization would be given an additional weightage of 2%.
- No upper age limit is applicable.
P.G. Diploma in Clinical Linguistics for Speech-Language Pathology
Candidates with a degree in B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing)/ BASLP/ B.ASLP from an institution that is recognized by RCI and considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission.
P.G. Diploma in Forensic Speech Science and Technology
- Candidates who have passed in any of the following examinations of any recognized University/ institute with a minimum of pass class in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
- a) B.Sc. with Physics/ Mathematics/ Electronics/ Computer Science/ Forensic Science/ Speech and Hearing as a major component at B.Sc./ B.ASLP level
- b) B.E/ B.Tech. with Electronics/ Computer Science/ Communication
- c) M.B.B.S.
- Employees working in the forensic related field in forensic laboratories would be given preference.
- No upper age limit is applicable.
P.G. Diploma in Neuro-Audiology
- Admission is open to the candidates who have passed B.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.)/ BASLP/ B.ASLP or equivalent from any other recognized university
- Those with the above qualification, working in the electrophysiological lab or sponsored/ deputed from any hospital, medical college or institution would be given an additional weightage of 2%.
- No upper age limit is applicable.
Ph.D. (Audiology)
Junior Research Fellowship
- Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ ST) marks.
- One year of work/ research experience after M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP.
- Candidates should have passed the entrance examination for a Ph.D. conducted by the University of Mysore.
Ph.D. (Speech & Hearing)
- Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (Aud)/ M.Sc. (SLP)/ M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.)/ MASLP/ M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ ST/ PH) marks.
- One year of work/ research experience after M.Sc. (Aud)/ M.Sc. (SLP)/ M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.)/ MASLP/ M.ASLP.
- Candidates should have passed the entrance examination for Ph.D.in Speech and Hearing conducted by the University of Mysore.
Ph.D. (Audiology), Ph.D. (Speech-Language Pathology), and Ph.D. (Speech & Hearing)
- Candidates must have passed M.Sc. (Audiology)/ M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology)/
M.Sc. (Speech and Hearing)/ MASLP/ M.ASLP degree examination of the University of
Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ ST and candidates from SAARC countries). - One year of work/ research experience (exempted for in-service candidates) after M.Sc.
(Audiology)/ M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology)/ M.Sc. (Speech and Hearing)/ MASLP.
Post Doctoral Fellowship
- Ph.D. from a recognized University in the area of speech, language, and/ or hearing.
- Research experience in any Institution supported by a certificate by the Head of the Institution is desirable.
- At least two publications as the main author singly/ jointly in indexed journals.
AIISH 2020 Selection Process
Bachelor of Education – Special Education (Hearing Impairment) – B.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI)
Selection is purely on the basis of merit. The marks obtained in the qualifying examination will be considered for the selection of candidates.
P.G. Diploma in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (PGDAAC)
- The eligible applicants shall be shortlisted in order of merit. For candidates with B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) / B.ASLP or equivalent, the average percentage marks obtained in the qualifying examination will be considered; whereas, for candidates with Bachelor of Special Education, average percentage marks of the undergraduate program (B.A. / B.Sc.) and the B.S.Ed. (Special Education) will be considered.
- The admissions shall be in accordance with the merit-cum-reservation policy of the Government of India.
- Candidates who are short-listed based on the merit-cum-reservation will undergo counselling.
- The final selection will be based on the discretion of the Director, All India Institute of Speech & Hearing, Manasagangothri, Mysuru.
P.G. Diploma in Clinical Linguistics for Speech-Language Pathology
- Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements shall be listed in order of merit which is decided based on the marks in the qualifying examination.
The admissions shall be in accordance with the merit-cum-reservation policy of the Central Government. Selection is all India based. - Candidates with clinical experience in the field of communication disorders will be given preference.
- Candidates who are short-listed based on the merit-cum-reservation will undergo an interview.
P.G. Diploma in Forensic Speech Science and Technology
- Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements shall be listed in order of merit which is decided based on the marks in the qualifying examination.
- The admissions shall be in accordance with the merit-cum-reservation policy of the Central Government. Selection is All India based.
- Candidates with experience in forensic laboratories will be given an additional weightage of 10 marks which will be added to the marks in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates who are short-listed based on the merit-cum-reservation will undergo an interview.
P.G. Diploma in Neuro-Audiology
- The eligible applicants shall be shortlisted in order of merit which is decided based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (i.e., total marks obtained/ total marks allotted x 100).
- The admissions shall be in accordance with the merit-cum-reservation policy of the Central Government. Selection is all India based.
- Candidates who are short-listed based on the merit-cum-reservation will undergo an interview.
- The final selection will be based on the discretion of the Director, All India Institute of Speech & Hearing, Manasagangothri, Mysuru.
Ph.D. (Audiology)
- Candidates have to pass the entrance examination conducted by the University of Mysore. Exemption from entrance examination is as per the University of Mysore regulations.
- Candidates who pass in the entrance examination need to appear for an interview before a selection committee constituted for the purpose by the Director of the institute. Based on the merit list and availability of seats, candidates are admitted to the Ph.D. program.
- The candidates are governed by the rules and regulations of the AIISH Fellowship.
- The candidates will have to undergo a 16-week course work stipulated by the University of Mysore and pass in the examination before they can register for Ph.D.
Ph.D. (Speech & Hearing)
- Candidates have to go through the entrance examination conducted by the University of Mysore. Exemption from entrance examination is as per the University of Mysore regulations.
- Candidates who pass in the entrance examination need to appear for an interview before a selection committee constituted for the purpose by the Director of the institute.

AIISH Entrance Exam 2020 Exam Pattern
An entrance examination based on the B.ASLP syllabus of RCI will be conducted at various centers for the selection of candidates. Admission shall be made only on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by the institute for this purpose. The Entrance Examination will be of 100 marks and the number of Questions to be answered shall be 100 in a duration of 100 minutes. There shall be negative marking for wrong answers calculated @ – 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
