About Aliah University @ aliah.ac.in
Aliah University has established in the year 1780 it is a State University under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal and came into existence through the Aliah University Act XXVII of 2007. The newly-upgraded University started its glorious journey from the 2008-09 academic session with the hope that there would be a symbiosis of heritage and modernization here and through the participation and co-operation of people irrespective of race, caste, creed, or class, this University would play a leading role in the advancement of higher education especially of the Minorities.
Aliah University has a unique pre-history. However, within a decade the curriculum of Aliah Madrasah had also encompassed modern subjects like geometry, arithmetic, astronomy, and the natural sciences along with the more traditional branches of learning like Elementary Grammar, Law, Theology, Philosophy, and Logic.
It may be observed that Aliah Madrasah from its early days imparted teaching in both the traditional subject of theology and the modern sciences, social sciences, and humanities. To keep alive this tradition of teaching, right from the start, Aliah University has offered courses in the traditional Islamic Theology, Islamic Studies, and Arabic along with subjects like English, Bengali, History, Geography, Economics and many other branches of Science as well as Engineering, Management, Journalism and Mass Communication Studies.

Aliah University Admissions
- Most of the admissions at Aliah University is done through the test AUAT conducted by the university except for B.Ed., M.Tech and Ph.D. programs.
- For the admission in B.Tech, B.A and B.Ed candidates must secure 60% of marks in 12th class.
- For M.A, M.Sc, etc courses admissions will be allotted to the students should pass the 3 years degree
- Student admission will be canceled when they fail to secure an aggregate of 40% marks in the Final Examination.
- For M.Tech admissions, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with relevant discipline.
- Candidates who are seeking for the L.L.M admissions must be passed in 3 years L.L.B or 5 years integrated L.L.B with 45% of aggregate marks are eligible for applying the L.L.M.
- Ph.D. program admissions are done based on the performance in the departmental research committee followed by an interview.
