Note:

  • In Paper 1: General Studies 1 – 30%-35% questions will compulsorily be related to Assam
  • Paper 2: General Studies II – Qualifying nature, shall have minimum qualifying marks of 33%.
  • The questions will be of objective type with multiple choices
  • The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the Candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be counted for determining the final order of merit.
  • There will be negative marking for incorrect answers
    • There are four alternatives for the answers to every question. One-fourth ofthe total mark assigned to one question will be deducted for wrong answer marked by a candidate.
    • If a candidate marks more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happens to be correct.

Paper I: General Studies I

Paper 1

To be written in the medium or language of the candidate’s choice. Candidate is required to write an essay on a specific topic. The choice of subjects will be given.

Paper 2 – General Studies I (Indian History, Heritage, Culture and Society and Geography of the India and World)

  • Indian culture shall cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, Literature and Architecture from ancient to modern times.
  • Modern Indian history from about the middle of the eighteenth century until the present- significant events, personalities, issues.
  • The Freedom Struggle – its various stages and important contributors/contributions from different parts of the country.
  • Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country.
  • Salient features of Indian Society, Diversity of India.
  • Role of women and women’s organization, population and associated issues, poverty and developmental issues, urbanization, their problems and their remedies.
  • Effects of Globalization on Indian society.
  • Social empowerment, Communalism, Regionalism & Secularism.
