Following is the selection process for the candidates who will be applying for the Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) (T-6) and Senior Technical Officer (STO) (T-6) posts.
- STO (T-6)/ SMS (T-6) Examination (Objective Type) for 150 Marks
- Interview for 30 Marks

Note for STO, SMS:
- The Exam will be having one paper
- Type of Questions – multiple choice objective questions
- Questions will be from respective disciplines opted by the candidate.
- The Examination will be conducted in an Online format at the designated Centres. The questions of the Examination will be available in bilingual form i.e. Hindi and English medium.
- Negative Marking – 1/3 of marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the examination (Objective Type). There will be no rounding off of fractions of marks.
- Qualifying Marks – The candidates who obtain the following minimum qualifying marks in the online (CBT) examination shall be called for an interview in the ratio of 1:5 for each post of SMS (T-6), STO (T-6).
ASRB SMS, STO Syllabus 2024
The ICAR conducts the SMS (T-6) Examination to directly recruit individuals for the position of Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) (T-6) at Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) that are under its administrative control. In addition, the STO (T-6) Examination is also a direct recruitment exam for the post of Senior Technical Officer (STO) (T-6) at ICAR Hqrs and its Research Institutes. The syllabus for both ASRB SMS (T-6) and ASRB STO (T-6) exams is similar to the National Eligibility Test (NET) disciplines.
