Eligibility Criteria for Common Welfare Scholarship – Ms in UK

  • The candidates are the citizens of the Commonwealth Commission, refugees or protected by the British council or a member of the Commonwealth Committee.
  • The candidates should not have registered for a Master’s in the UK and also in Indian Universities are not eligible.
  • Candidates who are abroad for 6 months or those who are training on scholarships or Those who went on their own for a period of 6 months are also able to apply.
  • Eligibility criteria for Common Welfare Scholarship – Ph.D. in the UK
  • The candidates need not be more than 40 years.
  • The candidates who are the citizens of Commonwealth Commission, refugee or protected by British council or a member of the Commonwealth Committee.
  • Applicant needs to have a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • The candidates need to have a minimum percentage of 60 in Social Science subjects and 65 percent as a minimum in Science subjects.
  • Student has to be ready to afford to study in the UK even if a Scholarship is obtained.

Application Process of Commonwealth Scholarship – UK

Only either by the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource and Development) or ECAS (Commonwealth Scholarship Commission Electronic Application System) the candidates can apply for the Commonwealth Scholarship of the UK for pursuing either Masters or Ph.D.

Commonwealth Scholarship Details – Singapore

Only the candidates who are outstanding in their academics who are going to Singapore can only avail of the Commonwealth Scholarship. This Commonwealth Scholarship provides a monthly stipend and also Tuition fee as a subsidy.

Candidates who wish to pursue higher education through the Commonwealth Scholarships have the following options.

  • Ph.D. Scholarships
  • Master’s Scholarships

These Commonwealth Scholarships are offered to aspiring candidates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. However, this scholarship is not provided for residents of Singapore or permanent residents of Singapore. Instead, it is provided only to new students from other Commonwealth countries. The Commonwealth Scholarships also provides many other benefits besides the tuition fees.

Commonwealth Scholarship Eligibility – Singapore

  • The candidates who are permanent residents of Singapore are not eligible for the Commonwealth Scholarship.
  • The candidates who have an Undergraduate Degree with at least second class horns.
  • The candidate should be a compulsory full-time student of Degree.

Commonwealth Scholarship Benefits – Singapore

  • For Ph.D. students – A monthly stipend of SGD 2000 will be paid.
  • For Masters students – A monthly stipend of SGD 1500 will be paid.
  • Tuition fees will also be provided by the university.
  • The Ph.D. scholars may be eligible for an additional stipend of SGD 500 per month upon passing the Ph.D. qualifying examination (QE). This is held within 12-18 months after Ph.D. registration.

Note: The scholarship is tenable for 1 year in the first instance subject to scholar’s satisfactory progress. The maximum period of the scholarship is 2 years for Masters and 4 years for Ph.D. candidates as determined by the relevant faculty or school.
