The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that the CUET UG exam at a Kanpur center, which experienced a question paper mix-up, will be rescheduled to 29th May 2024. The NTA clarified that no question paper was leaked at the center.

An error occurred on 15th May 2024, at Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy in Kanpur. During the second shift, invigilators mistakenly distributed English-medium question papers to students who were supposed to receive Hindi-medium ones. As a result, the NTA decided to conduct another exam session for the affected candidates on 29th May 2024.

The NTA stated, “Due to an incorrect distribution at an examination Centre in Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on 15 May 2024 (Shift 2B), the NTA will conduct another shift of the CUET (UG) – 2024 for General Test (501) on 29th May 2024 for the affected candidates who could not appear in the examination of that Centre.

CUET Exam Rescheduled for Delhi Candidates

The NTA also announced a rescheduled CUET UG exam date for Delhi centers. The original exam, set for 15th May 2024, was postponed the night before due to unforeseen circumstances. The new date for these candidates is now 29th May 2024. A similar situation occurred on 5th May 2024 during the NEET-UG exam in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, where Hindi-medium students were given English-medium papers. Their exam was rescheduled for later that day. The NTA confirmed that no paper leak occurred in this instance either.

Hybrid Mode Testing and Exam Schedule

This year’s CUET UG, the largest test in the country, is being conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time. Exams for four subjects—Chemistry, Biology, English, and the General Test—were originally scheduled for 15th May 2024. Offline exams are taking place from 15th to 19th May 2024, followed by computer-based tests from 21st to 24th May 2024.

Exam Administration and Attendance

On Friday, the exams were conducted at around 620 centers across India and abroad. Over the first two days, the NTA completed exams for 25.91 lakh (44.71 percent) and 15.81 lakh (27.29 percent) combinations, respectively. By 17th May 2024, the NTA had completed 72 percent of the total tests, with an overall completion rate of 81.31 percent within the first three days (May 15-17). Attendance was highest in Economics and Accountancy, both at 85 percent, followed by Business Studies and Geography, each at 74 percent.
