GTBH was established in 1979. Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTBH/ GTB Hospital) was situated in the National Capital Region of Delhi, India, and is affiliated to and acts as the teaching hospital of the University College of Medical Sciences. This hospital consists of a 350-bed capacity which has now been expanded to 1500-bed capacity. UCMS was founded in 1971, due to the struggles of the Health Minister of New Delhi. It was founded by the minister to provide medical education to every student who has the eligibility criteria and wished to become a doctor. In 1986, it changed to its present location at Dilshad Garden and was associated with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, with a 1000 bedded institution, as its teaching hospital.
