It is strongly recommended that all candidates obtain precise and pertinent details concerning the HPPSC HPAS Exam Pattern 2024, as this pattern holds significant importance for applicants in preparing for the upcoming examination.

The preliminary examination consists of two papers: General Studies and Aptitude Test, with a total of 400 marks. It’s primarily a screening test, and the marks obtained here don’t affect the final ranking. About 20 times the vacancies are selected for the Main Examination, and only those who qualify for the Preliminary Examination are eligible for it. The Aptitude Test is qualifying, requiring a minimum of 33% marks, but its scores aren’t considered for merit.

Candidates scoring zero or negative marks in General Studies are not considered qualified. Incorrectly filled answer sheets are rejected. Negative marking is applied for wrong answers, deducting one-third of the marks for each. Multiple answers to a question are counted as incorrect. There’s no penalty for leaving a question unanswered. Each paper has a duration of two hours.

HPPSC HPAS Exam Pattern 2024 for Mains Examination

The main examination comprises compulsory subjects along with one optional subject chosen by the candidate, which must be specified in the application form. Any changes to the optional subject can be communicated to the Commission before the deadline for payment of the examination fee. Candidates have the option to answer the Optional Paper in either English or Hindi. To qualify for the written examination, a candidate must attain a minimum of 40% marks in each compulsory paper in Hindi and English, and at least 45% marks in the aggregate, excluding the compulsory papers in Hindi and English. The number of candidates called for the interview/ personality test based on the Main written examination shall not exceed three times the number of vacancies notified for recruitment.

The final ranking of candidates is determined by the marks obtained in the main examination, which includes both the written part and the interview/personality test. Candidates are allotted various services/ posts based on their ranks in the examination and their expressed preferences for the different services and posts.
