Candidates 1 IBM Interview Experience
Status – Selected
Name of the Job Role – Associate System Engineer
Round 1 – Online Written Test
First, I’ve submitted my application form for the Associate System Engineer job role. And then I’ve been called to appear for the IBM Online Written Test, in which there are 4 sections (Cognitive Ability Games, English Language Test, Learning Agility Test, Coding). Basically, this online written test round will be an elimination round. And the difficulty level will be varied from moderate to difficult based upon your preparation for this round. And coming to my shortlisting for this round, I’ve done well so, I got shortlisted.
Round 2 – Technical & HR Interview Round
Usually, this is a face-to-face round where the total duration it took is 30 minutes. And for me, the Technical & HR Interviews are done in the same round itself. And for IBM Technical Interviewer, the interviewer asked questions from my core subjects like C++ (Questions mainly from OOPS Concepts), JAVA, DBMS, Computer Networks, Computer Organization & Architecture, Operating Systems, and Data Structures. And coming to HR questions, the common and most basic HR questions were asked.
Below are some of the questions that can totally sum up what my IBM Technical Interview Experience and IBM HR Interview Experience are like.
Technical Questions
1. What is the advantage of inheritance in OOPS?
2. Explain function overloading and function overriding in the context of the C++ programming language
3. What is Procedural Programming?
4. What is Correlated Subquery in DBMS?
5. What are the various Interrupts in a Microprocessor system?
6. What is ‘beaconing’?
7. Can you write the final method in the interface?
8. What is autowiring in spring?
9. Role of each member in your project
10. New technologies you are familiar with.
HR Questions
1. Tell me Something about yourself
2. Do you know any Entrepreneur’s name and what are the things you like about him or her?
3. What are your hobbies? (Questions related to hobbies were asked)
4. Why do you want to work for our company?
5. Describe a situation where you worked hard but could not succeed.
6. Situational Based Questions (How you react to a certain situation)
After the HR interview round, I was asked to wait for some time. Later the results were announced. And got to know I was selected for the Associate System Engineer position.
Candidates 2 IBM Interview Experience
Status – Selected
Job Role – Associate Software Developer
Round 1 – Online Written Test
For the first round, I’ve to attend the Online Written Test. In this round, there are 4 sections Cognitive Ability, English Language, Learning ability, Coding (1 Coding + 5 MCQs). Each section will have a time limit of 10-30 mins. The difficulty level of the questions in the written test is from easy to moderate. You need to prepare multiple placement papers to ace this round as this will be an elimination round you need to perform well. After I’ve cleared the IBM Online Written Test, I’ve been called for the Technical Round.
Round 2 – Technical Interview
In this technical round, I’ve been asked questions mostly from the Data Structures & Algorithms and questions related to my project, the programming language I’ve used in my project, and my role in the project. 1. Explain everything about OOP.
2. What is the difference between String and String Buffer?
3. What is Variable Scope?
4. What are the main differences between the Primary key and the Unique Key?
5. What is an inner join? Explain with Business use?
6. Reverse a linked list using Object-Oriented language.
7. Design a parking system using Object-Oriented Techniques.
Round 3 – HR Interview
Once I’m successfully done with the IBM Technical Interview, I was called for the IBM HR Interview round. This round is also face-to-face, where the interview asked questions related to my family, my educational background, my hobbies, stress handling ability questions, situational questions, my projects (My Role in the project), etc.
1. Tell me about yourself
2. How will you react to a situation where at the moment of delivery you came across a serious problem in your project?
3. Suppose you have a team of 5 members and 2 of them left you due to some unavoidable reasons just before the project submission deadline. How will you respond to the situation?
