IIST Admission 2020 Eligibility Criteria
M. Tech/ M.Sc Courses
- B.E./ B.Tech./ Master of Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.50 out of 10 for General/ EWS& OBC category and a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA 6.00 out of 10 for SC/ ST & PD category. A valid score in GATE/ JEST/ UGC NET/ CSIR-NET in the relevant area as the case may be, as specified above is essential.
- When CGPA & Equivalent percentage are both in the mark list/ certificate, CGPA alone would be considered for eligibility.
Age Limit: 32 years as on 08.06.2020. Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ ST/ Persons with disability (PD) category as per Government of India Orders. No age relaxation for OBC/ EWS and women candidates.

Ph.D. Course
Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen
- Applicants with a Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology as their highest qualifying degree Applicants with Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology must have secured 65% marks or 7.00 CGPA on a scale of 10 or equivalent in the Qualifying Master’s degree.
- They must have pursued their Master’s degree on the basis of a qualified GATE score. However, there is no GATE cut off score for applicants with M.Tech./ M.E as the highest qualifying degree, who are applying for Ph.D. in Engineering Discipline.
Age Limit: The applicant should be below 35 years as on 15.06.2020. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government Rules. There is no provision for Ph.D. admission in IIST under Self Financing Category

IIST Admission 2020 Application Fee is Rs. 600/- General (for SC, ST, PD, and women candidates Rs.300/-) up to three preferences (within or across all the departments) and Rs. 1200/- for General (for SC, ST, PD, and women candidates Rs.600/-) from four to maximum six preferences (within or across all the department).
