IIT Kanpur PG 2020 Eligibility Criteria
A) Ph.D: A master’s degree in engineering with marks/ CPI not below the specified minimum. (or) a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (4-year program) with a minimum of 75 percent marks/7.5 CPI and a valid GATE score (the requirement of GATE score is waived for candidates with bachelor’s degree in engineering from the centrally funded technical institutes (CFTIs)). (or) a master’s degree in science or an allied area while satisfying each of the following three criteria:
(a) a minimum of 65 percent marks/6.5 CPI in the master’s degree,
(b) first division in bachelor’s degree, and
(c) JRF/ 95 percentile or higher in the GATE score.
For admission into Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, applicants with the master’s in computer applications while satisfying each of the above criteria in (a), (b) and (c) may also be considered.
A valid GATE score is required for the candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Design/ Architecture, except in the case of candidates with bachelor’s degrees in Engineering from the centrally funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). The candidates with a master’s degree in science must either have a valid GATE score or must have qualified for/ in JRF/ NET.
B) Master of Technology (MTech): A bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (4-year program) or a master’s degree in science with marks/ CPI not below the specified minimum.
(ii) A valid GATE score is required for admission to the MTech program in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of the GATE score is waived off for the candidates with the B Tech/BS (Four Year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B Tech/ BS (Four Year).
C) Master of Design (MDes): A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or science (4-year program), Design or Architecture with marks/ CPI not below the specified minimum. Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are not eligible to apply.
(ii) A valid GATE/CEED score is required for admission to the M.Des. program in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of the GATE score is waived off for the candidates with B.Tech. graduates from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B.Tech.
D) MS (By Research): MS (By Research) 2-year Programme: For Aerospace Engineering:
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or science (4-year program) or a Master’s degree in science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum.
For Electrical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering:
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or science (4-year program) with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum.
IIT Kanpur PG 2020 Application Fee
The application fee is Rs.400 for General, EWS and OBC candidates and Rs.200 for SC/ ST and all DAP candidates (including General, EWS and OBC). The application fee is waived for candidates in the ‘Foreign National’ category.
