Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is the initial among the third phase of IITs, proclaimed in 2014, to possess its foundation stone set in March 2015. IIT started functioning with the support of its mentoring institute, IIT Madras from the academic year of 2015-16. the academic program was launched in August 2015 by admitting students in the B.Tech program within the fields of civil engineering, computer science & engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. The program has stressed on theoretical information and practices orienting laboratories. Courses are planned to nurture innovation, creativity, quality, teamwork, communication skills, ethics, and social interaction. MS and Ph.D. programs are going to be started from the academic year 2017-18.

Presently, IIT Tirupati is working from the temporary campus on Tirupati – Renigunta Road and also the transit campus at Yerpedu. The transit field was formally inaugurated by the Director professor. K.N Satyanarayana on sixth August 2018 and therefore the orientation program for initial year students was organized on seventh August 2018. 2 boys hostels are currently operational for initial year students and the third hostel is almost prepared for occupation by senior students. A hundred and twenty and sixty seater lecture rooms also are prepared for conducting categories for the first-year students. Library
The university has a library which was established in 2015 to support its educational and research programs. The library aims to develop a comprehensive assortment of documents of use to the college and therefore the students of IIT Tirupati. As of 31st March 2016, the library had regarding 1300 textbooks and reference books associated with engineering, sciences, humanities and also the social sciences. The library subscribes to thirty popular magazines and an assortment of elect journals of the varied fields of engineering, technology, and life sciences. The library is increasing its collection of learning resources, which in March 2016 enclosed 50 CD-ROMs. it’s equipped with a library automation system that includes modern technology and uses the KOHA open supply integrated library system and an online public access catalog (OPAC). The library issues books electronically exploitation 2 desktop systems, a barcode printer, a receipt printer, and a barcode reader. E-Classroom
Eight 60-seater classrooms and one 120-seater classroom were developed and also the necessary piece of furniture is installed. A 120-seater virtual classroom was established. Video conferencing facilities with a one Gbps bandwidth connection to the NKN were established.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure was created from scratch in a} very short amount of time. The infrastructure at IIT Tirupati is comparable with that of the older IITs for the aim of teaching the undergraduate courses. The building at the temporary campus was considerably changed to fulfill the wants of IIT Tirupati. many new installations were carried out to produce the students with an optimum surrounding for learning.
Hostel
The men were accommodated in the 21st Century Gurukulam Hostel, rented from Sri Venkateswara University. The hostel is located near Alipiri, 13 km from the Institute. The women were accommodated in the IISER Tirupati hostel. Transport was arranged by the Institute for the students to commute between the hostels and the Institute. The hostels have Wi-Fi facilities, washing machines, TV, water coolers, water heaters, computer rooms, and gyms. Four desktop systems were installed in the common room of the boys’ hostel. Permission was obtained from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for the IIT students to play cricket and football on their grounds in the evenings and on weekends. A faculty member, a teaching staff member and a member of the supporting staff took on the additional responsibility of caring for the needs of the students in the hostels.
Medical
An MoU has been entered with SVIMS, Tirupati for outpatient and inpatient treatment of Faculty, Staff, and Students. All the students are covered under the Insurance Scheme with an insured amount of Rs.75,000/- for inpatient treatment.
