Further, the officials have stated that the first batch of 150 new IRMS officers will be taken from the UPSC CSE Exam 2023. Generally, this IRMS was beneficial to the Engineering and Commerce background students. Now, as per the latest update, candidates have to choose a subject from 4 options namely: Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Commerce and Accountancy.
Moreover, candidates interested in applying for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Recruitment 2023 should proceed to apply for the UPSC CSE 2023 to appear for the IRMS Exam. And, the UPSC IRMS Registration through Civil Services Exam has already begun from 1st February 2023 and will be closing on 21st February 2023 (Till 6:00 PM). And the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam is scheduled to be conducted on 28th May 2023.

Coming to the UPSC IRMS Selection Process – candidates who qualified in Prelims Exam (Civil Services Prelims) will be qualified to appear for Stage 2 of the examination which is the IRMS (Main) Written Examination. The structure of the exam and syllabus will be the same as UPSC CSE Exam. Basically, the Civil Services Prelims exam will act as the qualifying test for IRMS Mains Exam according to the Ministry Statement.
