NEHU 2020 Eligibility Criteria
A) B.Tech. Program: Information Technology/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Energy Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering: Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech:
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 in Science Stream or its equivalent from any recognized Board having secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical vocational subjects (relaxable by 5% for SC/ ST candidates)
- Candidates must have a valid positive JEE (Main) score.
B) B.Tech. Lateral Entry Admission: Eligibility criteria for admission directly into 2″ year/ 3rti year Semester B.Tech. Courses.
C) B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): 3 years Diploma in Engineering from the disciplines like ECE/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Medical Electronics/ Information Technology/ CSE having secured a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSEC examination OR B.Sc, in Electronics/ Mathematics/Physics having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level.
D) B.Tech. in Information Technology (IT): 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branches of IT/ CSE/ Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through study after class 10/SSLC examination OR B.Sc. in Electronics/ IT/ Computer Science/ Physics/ Mathematics having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level. Mathematics must be a compulsory subject in B.Sc.(Hons) level OR BCA having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level.
E) B.Tech. in Energy Engineering: 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch of Energy Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/ SSLC examination OR B.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry/ Material Science / Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level. Mathematics must be a compulsory subject in B.Sc.( Hons) level.
F) B.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering: 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch of Biomedical Engineering/ Instrumentation/ Medical Electronics with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of three years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC examination OR B.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate from any recognized institution having Mathematics at 10+2 level. Mathematics must be a compulsory subject in B.Sc.(Hons) level.
G) B.A.LL.B (HONS): Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General and 45% for SC/ST from a recognized University/ Board are eligible for applying for this course. Admission will be as per merit secured in the admission test conducted by the Department.
H) Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.): Eligibility Criteria for admission:
- Candidates shall Abe eligible for admission to the first year of the Bachelor’s Degree program in Architecture if he/she has secured a minimum of at least 50% marks in aggregate at the Higher Secondary or equivalent (10+2) level with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as compulsory subject of the examinations OR 10+3 years diploma recognized by the Central/ any State Government or its designated authority with a minimum of at least 50% marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects of the examination during the course of study
- Candidates possessing any of the above qualifications must also have a valid National Aptitude Test of Architecture (NATA) score conducted by Council of Architecture.
I) MBA (Agri-Business & Food Technology): A candidate with 55% marks (relaxable up to 5% for SC/ST candidates) in the aggregate in B.Sc. (Life Sciences, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Micro-biology, Bio-chemistry, Food Preservation, Agriculture, Food Technology) or any graduate in Agriculture Science/Technology/ Animal Husbandry shall only be considered for admission (Eligible candidates need to appear any of the MAT Tests (May, September, December. 2019 and February 2020). Candidates who are willing to take admission to Master of Agri-business Management & Food Technology are required to fill up the NEHU application form enclosing their respective MAT Score.
J) Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM):
- Candidates with 3 years Bachelor’s Degree Course (10+2+3) or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (45% for SC/ST candidates) shall ordinarily be considered for admission. Students appearing in the final examination and expecting their results by July 2020 may also apply
- Candidates must have a valid Management Aptitude Test (MAT) score (May/ September/ December 2019 or February/May 2020) conducted by All India Management Association. Candidates who are willing to take admission in the Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) program are required to fill up the NEHU application form enclosing their respective MAT Score. Specialization Offered: Tourism Management, Hotel Management. Tourism Marketing and Tourism Entrepreneurship.
K) M.Tech. in Information Technology: A candidate who has passed B.E./B.Tech. in IT/CSE/ECE/Electrical Engineering or MCA or M.Sc. in Computer Science /Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates. GATE qualified candidates will be given preference.
L) M.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering: A candidate who has passed B.E./B.Tech. in ECE/Electrical Engineering or M.Sc. in Electronics having secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates. GATE qualified candidates will be given due weightage.
M) M.Tech. in Nanotechnology: A candidate who has passed B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Nanotechnology / Biochemical / Biomedical / Biotechnology / Chemical / Electronics /Energy/ Electrical/ Metallurgical Engineering and M.Sc. in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology/Physies / Chemistry /Material Science/Electronics/Biotechnology and allied courses having 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (relax by 5% for SC/ST candidates). GATE qualified candidates will be given preference.
N) M.Sc. in Horticulture: Candidate passed a B.Sc.(Horticulture)/B.Sc.(Ag.) with a minimum of 4 years or 8 Semester program of the University or an equivalent examination recognized by the University with a minimum percentage of 55% or equivalent CGPA with 5% lower achievement for SC/ST candidates.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Ph.D. Programs
A) Biomedical Engineering: M.E./M.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering/ Biotechnology/ Electrical/ Electronics and Communication/ Mechanical/ Computer/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering/ Nanotechnology or M.Sc. in Biomedical Instrumentation, Electronics, Biophysics, Instrumentation candidates having completed M.Tech. degree in the above area or M.D./M.S. or student with a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy (2 years program) from any UGC recognized University or equivalent.
B) Electronics & Communication Engineering: Candidates with 55% marks for general and 50% marks for SC/ST at the M.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering or equivalent or allied/cognate subjects are eligible for admission.
C) Information Technology: Candidates who have passed M.E./M.Tech. IT/CSE/ ECE/EE or MCA or .M.Sc. in Computer Science/Electronics having secured a minimum of .55%) aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates). GATE/NET qualified candidates will be given preference. “No Objection Certificate” from the employers should be submitted by in-service candidates with the application form.
D) Energy Engineering: Candidate who have passed M.Tech./M.E. in Energy Engineering, Energy Technology, Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy Management and Auditing Electrical, Mechanical. Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or M.Sc. in Energy. Renewable Energy, Energy Management and Auditing from any UGC recognized University or equivalent having secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) applicable as per NEHU norms. The admission will be based on the combined entrance test and interview conducted by the department.
E) Nanotechnology: Candidate who has passed M.Tech. in Nanotechnology/ Biochemical/ Biomedical/Biotechnology/ Chemical/EC E/Energy/ Metallurgical Engineering or M.Sc. in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Material Science/ Biotechnology having 55% marks or equivalent CGPA (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates). GATE/NET qualified candidates will be given preference.
F) Management: Selection for admission to Ph.D. Programme in the Departments will he as perules of the University.
G) Agribusiness Management and Food Technology: Candidates with at least 55% marks or a minimum of ‘B’ grade (CGPA) in the 7 points UGC Scale at the Master’s Degree Level or Equivalent will be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program in the same or cognate subject. However, in cases of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, the minimum percentage/ CGPA may be relaxed to the extent provided by the Government of India policy on such matters. Further, subject to availability of vacancies, candidates from disciplines/ subjects other than those dealt by the concerned Department/ Centres may be admitted, provided they belong to allied/cognate subject and the expertise in such subject available in the Department/Centre.
H) Horticulture: Candidates passed an M. Sc.(Horticulture)/M.Sc.(Ag. In Horticulture) with any specialization in Horticulture with a minimum of 2 years or 4 Semester program of the university or an equivalent examination recognized by the university with a minimum percentage of 55% or equivalent CGPA with 5% lower achievement for SC/ST.
NEHU 2020 Application Fee
Students applying for courses/programs in Shillong/Tura Campus are requested to fill up the online admission form of the University on payment of Rs. 800/- and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST category and for General Courses Rs.500/- and Rs. 250/- For SC/ ST by visiting this University Website www.nehu.ac.in and the payment will be online using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking through SBI and HDFC Bank. The admission fee is not refundable.
