About Periyar University
As per the provisions of the Periyar University Act, 1997 the Periyar University established by the Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th September 1997. This the university is located in Salem in Tamil Nadu. Periyar university named after a social Reformer E.V. Ramasamy affectionally called Thanthai Periyar. This the university aims the “Wisdom Maketh the World”.

The university has recognized by the UGC, New Delhi and is accredited by the NAAC with A grade. Admission to the students will be given based on the performance in the entrance test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University. Many Colleges are affiliated to this university which is located in four districts that are Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, and Krishnagiri.
Periyar University Admissions
- M.Phil and Ph.D admissions will be given to the students based on the marks obtained in the qualifying exam.
Students must hold a Master’s degree in relevant streams. - All the PG Courses admissions are based on the marks obtained in the Under Graduation except MBA and MCA.
- For MBA and MCA courses admissions will be obtained marks obtained in TANCET.
- B. Ed and M.Ed are offered to the students through merit-based, Merilist will be prepared on the basis of their marks obtained in the entrance and qualifying exams.
