RBI Launches ‘Har Payment Digital’ to make every citizen a user of digital payments: During Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW) 2023, RBI Governor Mr. Shaktikanta Das launched the ‘Har Payment Digital’ campaign, with the aim of enabling every citizen of India to use digital payments. The theme of the awareness week is ‘Adopt Digital Payments and Teach Others Also’. According to a statement from the Central Bank, digital payments in India have seen significant growth in recent years, and citizens have widely embraced the convenience and security that digital payments offer. However, a large segment of the population still does not use them despite being aware of their benefits.

A recent RBI survey of 90,000 respondents showed that 42% of them had used digital payments, 35% were aware of digital payments but did not use them, and 23% were not aware of digital payments at all. To increase the adoption of digital payments, the central bank has launched the ‘Har Payment Digital’ (HPD) campaign, which will run until the end of Vision 2025. The goal of Vision 2025 is to enable “E-Payments for Everyone, Everywhere, and Everytime“.
