About Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) – svvu.edu.in
Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University is a state university situated at Tirupati, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India. it was established in 2005 by the govt of Andhra Pradesh and focuses on veterinary studies. The University marks its starting with the establishment of the College of Veterinary Science in Bapatla in 1955, which was shifted to Tirupati in 1957. during the golden anniversary celebrations of the college in September 2004, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh declared the institution of the university. This took form with the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Act, 2005, that was passed on 30 March 2005. The university was formally inaugurated by Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy within the premises of the college on fifteen July 2005. The university took management of the operations of the faculty of Veterinary Science from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University.

The University offers UG & PG degree programs within the 3 faculties whereas the pH.D. program is obtainable only in Veterinary Sciences. The Veterinary Council of India has adopted the B.V.Sc & A.H course within the year 1994 and has been updated as per the 2008 VCI rules. The updated regulations are being implemented from the educational Year 2008 -09 onwards. For B.F.Sc and B.Tech (Dairy Technology) programs, the UG program and regulations prescribed by the IV Dean’s Committee of ICAR are being implemented from the educational year 2008-09 onwards.
This University offers a two-year diploma Programme in animal husbandry and additionally in fishery Science for rural youth who have completed 10th class (senior secondary certificate) to cater to the necessities of para-veterinary and para fishery employees of the state. Besides, this University offers M.V.Sc in eighteen disciplines of Veterinary Science, M.F.Sc in four disciplines of fishery Science and M.Tech in two disciplines of dairy Science, i.e. M.Tech (Dairy Technology), M.Tech (Dairy Microbiology). Post-graduate programs were started within the Departments of Pathology, pharmacology and livestock Production and Management throughout the educational year 2015-16. Ph.D. is offered in sixteen disciplines at the College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati and NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram.
