About The St. Xavier’s University (SXUK), Kolkata – sxuk.edu.in

The St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata in 2011 alumni association under its president Felix raj, the Principal of St. Xavier’s School, Kolkata devised Vision 2020, a ten-year set up including the foundation of St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. In 2012 the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee invited St. Xavier’s college to open a university. The land was purchased from the govt in 2013 and the foundation stone was set by Mamata Banerjee in December that year. The West Bengal Assembly unanimously approved of the opening of the university on eight February 2017 and the Governor gave his assent to the University, on sixteen January 2017. A similar month raj took charge of running the university.

By the St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, Act 2016 of the Bengal Assembly, the university could have constituent Jesuit colleges located in West Bengal. St. Xavier’s college Kolkata educational Trust is that the sponsoring Trust of the university, with the Jesuit provincial as its president and fr. raj as secretary. also established where a governing board, 13-member executive council, academic Council, faculty Council, Board of Studies, and finance committee.

The original university building has six floors, with galleries and with some amphitheatre kind classrooms. a large Jesuit residence has been made near. Initially, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, can continue to be related to Kolkata University. The university was inaugurated on seven July 2017 and classes commenced on ten July. Father Felix Raj was appointed its 1st Vice-Chancellor in February 2017.

SXUK Admissions

• Candidates are not eligible for admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
• A student should be passed in English at the +2 level. Admission of students failing in English or not having English as a paper will be cancelled.
• The aggregate will be calculated with 4 subjects at plus 2 level including the compulsory subjects as indicated in the eligibility criteria for application and the subjects having the maximum marks from the rest of the subjects.
• The students must have passed in all the papers as per the respective board/council pass marks.
• The student must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in each of the 4 subjects included in the aggregate calculation.
• Students from other countries need to submit their English Proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS).
• If the instruction of study in the qualifying examination is not in English medium at the time of admission then the University reserves the rights to reject the candidature and/or cancel the application or admission at any stage, if an applicant fails to fulfil the above conditions.
