STS Scholarship – Application Form, Dates, Eligibility: On behalf of Prof. Balram Bhargava, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary, Department of Health Research, the Online STS Scholarship Application Forms are accepted from the interested MBBS/ BDS candidates to participate in the Short Term Studentship Program (STS). The value of the studentship is Rs. 10,000/- per month for two months duration (Rs. 20,000/- only) and is meant to be a stipend for the student. This is paid only after the completion of the research and approval of the final report.

Objection Of ICMR Short Term Studentship (STS)

The main objective of this program is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate medical students to familiarize themselves with research methodology and techniques by being associated with a short duration with their seniors on ongoing research programs or by undertaking independent projects. This serves as an incentive for them to take up research as a career in the future.

STS Scholarship Eligibility

  • Only for MBBS/ BDS students of Medical/ Dental colleges recognized by MCI/ DCI are eligible before they arrive for their final exams.
  • Interns or PG students are not eligible to apply.
  • All the candidates who are carrying OCI cards/ PIO cards/ NRI’s studying in an Indian medical/ dental college can also apply and a copy of the OCI/ PIO/ NRI card must be submitted.
  • Students of paramedical/ non-medical courses may not apply.
  • Indian National students who are studying in approved medical/ dental colleges of India can apply.
  • Candidates from foreign medical/ dental colleges are not qualified for this program.

How To Submit STS Scholarship Application Form?

STS is a paperless Online Program of ICMR. Submission of STS Scholarship Application Form is a two-step process.

1) Registration of Student Details

Student Details

  • Candidates should get registered with their own email address and other details (Mobile Number, Course & Personal Details).
  • One student should register only once, duplicate registration will be treated as disqualification.
  • The student should write his/ her name in sentence case. Kindly do not prefix Mr./ Ms. with your name.
  • If selected, the stipend and certificate will be issued in the name of the student as mentioned in the STS Scholarship Application Form.
  • You need to provide the complete postal address of the College in the Online STS
  • Application Form along with your telephone number/ mobile number and email to facilitate communication.
  • After that process, automatically password and reference ID will be generated.
  • Now, the student will require the reference ID and email ID at the time of the report submission of the project later in Octobe.
  • Make sure with all your details and fill-up the form.

2) Submission Of Application/ Proposal – Online Form PART B, C, D

  • Application submission form and research proposal must be submitted ONLINE to ICMR as per the schedule given by the officials.
  • Each STS Application Form and research proposal should be submitted along with the duly filled in and attested mandatory Application Attestation Form (AAF).
  • The AAF should be filled in, signed, attested, scanned and saved as a PDF file. Application/ the research proposal will not be accepted unless accompanied by AAF.
  • Candidates can submit only one application/ proposal on any topic.
  • In case a student submits more than one proposal, all proposals will be automatically rejected.
