About Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) – tanuvas.ac.in
Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University were established in the year 1876 which is located in Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai. when the Madras Veterinary College started as an Agricultural School in Chennai to offer the diploma and certificate courses in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. This is the state university approved by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research [ICAR].

After realizing the importance of education research in animal and fisheries sciences so as to extend its productivity towards good income generation for the resource of poor farmers, the Tamil Nadu Government has established the first veterinary and animal sciences university in Asia on 20th September 1989 with its headquarters at Chennai with the name of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is popularly abbreviated or known as TANUVAS. The main motto of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is “educate the students in veterinary and animal science”.
TANUVAS Admissions
- For applying for any course at TANUVAS candidates must have 60% of the score in the qualifying examination.
- For PG admissions, candidates must have the Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field and it is done through the entrance exam followed by the counselling.
- B. Tech and BVSC & A.H courses admissions will be done based on the performance in the entrance test followed by the counselling and document verification.
- They must hold at least 60% in 10+2 which is the first eligibility criteria.
