TN Young Advocates Welfare Scheme – Eligibility

  • The applicant shall possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • He/ she should study the said degree in a Government Law College.
  • The applicant must have enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.
  • Applicant shall submit an affidavit attested by his/ her senior advocate every six months stating that he/she is still in active practice.
  • The applicant shall not exceed 30 years of age on the date of submission of application.
  • Applicant shall have an Aadhar card/ Id proof.
  • The applicant should be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • The family income of the applicant should be below Rs.2.5 lakhs per annum. Only one member of the family can avail this stipend (“Family” means Husband, Wife and their children)

Ineligibilities:

  • The applicant who has completed three years of practice are not eligible.
  • The applicant possessing a four-wheeler in his/her name is not eligible.
  • Non-practicing advocates are not eligible (Non-practicing advocate means an Advocate enrolled with Bar Council of Tamilnadu, but is not in the actual practice of Law and is engaged in some other public or private job, business contract, etc.)
  • The Practicing Advocate, if engaged in other businesses is not eligible.

Note: On inquiry, if it is found that any applicant furnishing false particulars to avail the benefit, the Council will initiate disciplinary action against the concerned, under Sec. 35 of the Advocates Act, 1961, in addition to the recovery of the amount with a penalty as determined by the Council.
