UPSRTC is the public sector passenger road transport corporation furnishing the services in Uttar Pradesh state and to the other adjoining states in North India. Passenger road transport services in the state of U.P. started on 15 May 1947 with the operation of bus service on the Lucknow – Barabanki route by the past U.P. Government Roadways. The buses in U.P state which operates over 4.1 million kilometers catering to the travel needs of over 1.8 million people and earning over Rs.119.8 million per day. During the IV five-year plan, the previous UP Government Roadways was renamed to Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) on 1 June 1972 under the provisions of the Road Transport Act, 1950.
