West Bengal Scholarship Eligibility
- Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities (SVMCM): This West Bengal merit cum means scholarship is for students studying from Class 11th onwards. The students are selected based on academic merit and financial need. Aspirants must have scored at least 75% marks in case studying for Diploma, Higher Secondary, or graduation level. In the case of Post-graduation, a candidate must have scored at least 53% (general) or 55% (engineering) marks. The annual family income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakhs per annum.
- West Bengal Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ ST/ OBC: Students studying in the post – matriculation or post-secondary level can apply for this scholarship. Students who are studying in class 11th, 12th, or in graduation/ post-graduation are eligible to get financial assistance. Also, the candidate’s annual family income must be between INR 2 to 2.5 lakhs per annum. For OBC students, the family income must not exceed INR 1 lakh per annum.
- Hindi Scholarship Scheme: Students who have passed Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate, or research level programs are eligible to apply under this WB scholarship scheme. This scholarship is to promote the Hindi language in the Non-Hindi state. Also, the candidate must have passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 60% marks with Hindi as a subject.
- West Bengal Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC ST Students: This is a centrally sponsored scholarship scheme for students studying in classes 9th and 10th. The annual family income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakhs per annum. Candidate must have a compulsory domicile of the state.

About WB Pre Matric
(i) The applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
(ii) Must be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government.
(iii) Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
(iv) The annual family income should not exceed Rs.2 lakh.
(v) Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for the pre-matric or post-matric scholarship.
About WB Post Matric
(i) Applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
(ii) Must be studying in a School/ Institution recognized by an educational Board/ Council/ University of the State/ Central Government.
(iii) Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
(iv) The annual family income should not exceed Rs.2 lakh.
(v) Students studying in institutes outside West Bengal will not be eligible for the pre-matric or post-matric scholarship.
About WB Merit Cum Means
(i) The applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
(ii) Must have got admission to a technical/ professional course.
(iii) The annual family income of the student should not be more than Rs.2.5 lakh.
(iv) Must have secured at least 50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/ Graduation examination.
(v) The students who are residents of West Bengal but pursuing studies in listed institutions located outside West Bengal, as may be notified from time to time by the West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, are also eligible for applying.
About TSP
Talent Support stipend is a State Government-sponsored program under the MA & ME Department, Govt. Of West Bengal. WBMDFC is functioning as a Nodal Office of the TSP Programme. WBMDFC was established in 1995 as per the West Bengal Act XVIII of 1995, i.e. The West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation Act, 1995. The function of the Corporation is to generally undertake the task of the economic welfare of the minorities. Moreover, WBMDFC has been taking up various schemes for Economic Welfare, Scholarships, vocational training, mass awareness, and career counseling since its inception.
About Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme For Minorities (SVMCM)
Applications are invited from Minority students for the scholarship for the year under “Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme For Minorities” for providing financial assistance to the meritorious students of West Bengal, pursuing higher studies. The Minority students of Post Madhyamik levels and onwards in regular courses including Polytechnic courses, who are residents in West Bengal and studying in educational institutions of this state after passing out in the Current year from the State Board/ Council of Secondary/ Higher Secondary and Madrasah Education may apply for this scholarship ( SVMCM for Minorities) subject to the eligibility.
Documents Required While Filling WB Scholarship Application Form
- Applying applicants must have to produce an Income declaration affidavit.
- The income of the family of the applying students must not exceed Rs. 100000/- per year for WB Scholarship.
- Recent Passport size photograph.
- Income Certificate.
